If you didn’t see it, you wouldn’t have believed it! After giving up the lead and making a green flag pit stop during stage three of the road course race Go Bowling at the Glen at Watkins Glen International on May 10, Shane van Gisbergen rejoined the race in 26th place. No one believed he could work his way through the field in time to even finish anywhere near the top of the field.
And then he began picking off the cars…one at a time…running laps faster than the leader Ty Gibbs.
The laps counted down and so did the number of cars between the 97 car and the lead.
Not only did Shane van Gisbergen pick off every car, he finish the race with a lead of over seven secnds!
Van Gisbergen moves up three spots in the standings to currently be the last driver in the playoffs, only six points in front of Chase Briscoe.
Tyler Reddick holds on to the point standings lead by 129 points over Denny Hamlin.
