Like many young girls, I was once a girl scout and we occasionally would go camping; although, we didn’t often actually sleep in tents. Sometimes it was in a cabin and we once even spent the weekend at a camp that had tree houses!
There was one particular weekend I remember when I was asked by one of the adults to “keep an eye” on some younger girls that were along on the trip.
I had reached the point in earning a badge, for what I don’t remember, but there was one final task. I didn’t know it then, but the “babysitting” duty was the final challenge to earn the badge.
And the adults in charge…
they went home for the night and had a nice sleep in their own beds!
In the end I earned the badge and added it to a growing collection.
Shortly after that my dad was transferred to a new job in another city and that was the end of my girl scout days.
While I would not care to repeat a campout in 19 degree weather; a nice weather weekend of “roughing it” might be kind of nice. Not sure about sleeping on the floor part though. 🙂
