Still in previews after opening on March 26, “The Rocky Horror Show” has announced an extension of its limited run. Originally scheduled to end the run on June 21, the show will now run until July 19. The official opening for “The Rocky Horror Show” is April 23.
“The Rocky Horror Show” is a revival of the iconic cult classic “The Rocky Horror Show”.
The show originally opened in London and later ran for nine months in Los Angeles; but the Broadway debut was received with much less fanfare; with less than 50 performances.
Then came the film “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and sent the film into iconic status.
The film still draws large crowds of fans dressed as their favourite characters and join in on the songs and the dialogue.
The current Broadway production is the second revival for the show on the New York stage.
Extending show runs has been a major trend on Broadway this year.
The Off-Broadway production of “Ulster American” starring Matthrew Broderick has announced a two week extension. The play opened on March 6 and was scheduled to close May 10; but will now run until May 24.
Making its world premiere on the Off-Broadway stage at the Chain theatre, “The Pushover” by John Patrick Shanley has also announced an extension.
Opening to previews on April 3 with an official opening on April 6; the limited run is now set to run through May 2.
