It was a rough weekend for the Craftsman Truck Series drivers. Not only was a large number of the drivers penalized for pre-race inspection violations, one driver was disqualified after failing post-race inspection.
Truck Series points leader Chandler Smith finished the Black’s Tires 200 in fourth place but after post-race inspection discovered that the number 38 truck failed to meet the rear body height requirements; NASCA disqualified the truck finish and placed Smith in las place.
The infraction cost Smith 33 points. His last place finish earns him only one point.
Smith started the race from the back of the field after the crew had to replace a broken shock – an act considered making unapproved adjustments to the truck.
Smith had worked his way through the field to finish in fourth place before being disqualified.
While there were several teams penalized for pre-race inspection, no driver lost their starting spot or had to serve a passthrough penalty upon starting the race.
