Another celebrity has joined the roster of NASCAR Cup Series owners and this time it isn’t a sports star.
Award winning singer Darius Rucker has joined the list of owners at Legacy Motor Club with champion drivers Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson.
LMC issued a statement saying, “Rucker has joined the team to further strengthen the team’s commitment to growth, innovation and expanding its cultural footprint.”
Jimmie Johnson added via press release, “Darius is someone who understands the power of connection with fans, with communities and through storytelling. What he’s built in music, the authenticity he brings to everything he does aligns directly with who we are as a Club. We’re excited to welcome him into Legacy and to build something meaningful together.”
LMC states that Rucker will be working on “initiatives to bridge sports, music and fan engagement, while supporting the team’s continued efforts and development.”
Earlier this month, LMC announced that they would be fielding a third full time car next season to join John Hunter Nemechek and Erik Jones. Jimmie Johnson has announced that next year’s Daytona 500 will be his final race in the Cup Series.
Prior to becoming a solo country artist, three time Grammy Award winning Darius Rucker was the lead singer for the band Hootie and the Blowfish.
