In 1990, Tom Cruise introduced Cole Trickle to the world – a race car driver who could drive like the wind but needed to work on engaging his brain a little more – in the film “Days of Thunder”.

One of the biggest draws to the film for race fans was that the racing scenes were from actual races including the Daytona 500.  Imagine running a race while the Hollywood crew is filming a rescue scene with the star being put in a helicopter for a trip to the hospital???

There has been chatter for a number of years on making a sequel for “Days of Thunder”, but it has been nothing more than talk…until now.

The chatter has become as loud as the roar of a stock car engine with a Hollywood screenwriter having been seen multiple times at NASCAR races and speaking with drivers.  Two time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has noted he spoke to someone about a “Days of Thunder” sequel.

However, no official announcements have been made so far.

Over the years “Days of Thunder” producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Tom Cruise have expressed interest in a sequel provided the right story came along.
