“Faith” was George Michael’s debut album as a solo artist. Shedding the teen heart throb persona, Michael completely changed his look and took control.
George Michael envisioned every aspect of his performances; he knew what he wanted and how he wanted it to sound. When it came to making music – whether in the studio or on the stage – George Michael demanded complete creative control.
“Faith” went on to be certified with a Diamond Award by the RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America – with over 25 million copies sold in the United States alone.
During the “Faith” tour in 1988, a film crew followed the 24 year old George Michael with a total of 14 cameras. Created in 35mm film; the George Michael Entertainment is set to release George Michael: The Faith Tour to theatres world-wide later this year.
Shot at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, the film features “an intimate yet explosive glimpse of an artist in complete command of his voice and stagecraft.”
Thought to be lost, the film was recovered and has been restored and remastered. With never-before-seen footage, the film includes an original short film open by Mary McCartney, previously unheard interview with Michael, previously unseen footage, and a behind the scenes look at the making of the “Faith” music video.
A companion “The Faith Tour” album release is planned alongside the film featuring 18 previously unreleased tracks of music by Wham and Michael’s solo music.
An official release date has not yet been announced.
