Daily writing prompt
What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

How are you???

George Carlin has a whole routine on this question…

People seldom if ever actually CARE about your answer; it’s just something to say.

Carlin’s favourtie answer was “I’m not unwell, thank you”.

Me. I frequently reply with “I’m hanging in there”.

More often than not, I’M not sure exactly how I feel. There are days when the emotions are like a roller coaster and a bit much to deal with; much less discuss, especially with a stranger or someone I don’t know well and certainly doesn’t know me.

Emotions are always a touchy subject for many people and simply asking the question ‘How are you?’ can trigger some powerful responses including a waterfall of emotions and words.

I am a private person who keeps my thoughts and feelings to myself – mostly – and off line. The whole world doesn’t need to know my business; so I keep things to myself.

But some recent deaths have had a big impact that is causing all kinds of issues emotion wise…and affecting my work, which leads to another whole slew of issues.

“How are you?” Yeah, I hate that question!
