Lead singer for the band 3 Doors Down – Brad Arnold – died February 7 at the age of 47 as a result of cancer. A rep for Arnold stated that he died in his sleep surrounded by family.
Arnold formed the southern rock band in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996. He wrote one of the band’s biggest hits “Kryptonite” when he was just 15 years old; reportedly during a math class.
When the band was just getting started, they were the subject of a beer commercial where the band’s name was used as a tag line. I have a delivery for the band…three doors down. Later in the ad, another delivery comes and the guy is told they are five doors down. Delivery guy says I thought they were three doors down; man answers, they were now they’re five doors down.
NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr is a big fan of the band and spoke of listening to their music often when he was still racing.
Bradley Kirk Arnold was born September 27, 1978 in Escatawpa, Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer. The couple had no children.
