Last season Corey Heim dominated the Craftsman Truck Series with 12 wins – nearly half of the 25 races.

Now Heim is looking to bring his “Heim Time” to the Cup Series in a 12 race deal with 23XI Racing.

Heim will be driving the number 67 car in a development deal that begins with an attempt to run the Daytona 500.

Heim’s 23XI Racing schedule:
Daytona 500
Kansas Speedway
Texas Motor Speedway
Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 3 and May 24
Nashville Superspeedway
Street race at Naval Base Coronado
Chicagoland Speedway
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Daytona International Speedway
Darlington Raceway
Charlotte Motor Speedway
Homestead-Miami Speedway

In a team release Corey Heim said, “I’m excited and honored to continue my progression with 23XI.  Every driver wants to race as much as possible, but I’m fully committed to the approach that I am taking with the team. I look forward to more Cup races this year and the opportunity to grow and expand my race-craft on and off the track.”

23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin said via team release, “we know the future is really bright for Corey, and we’re working with him to ensure that he is as prepared as possible when his time comes to race full time.  We’re continuing to stick to our plan and taking a long-term approach, while also remaining focused on what is collectively best for our organization and our partners as we look to continue being a competitive, winning organization each weekend.”

Bootie Barker will return as Heim’s crew chief.

While he will not defend his title as Truck Series champion, Heim is scheduled to run a part time schedule with Tricon Garage this season.

23XI stated that Heim will continue to be a “regular participant” at 23XI with 23XI’s senior director of competition Dave Rogers saying, “Corey’s development with the team has been impressive, and we appreciate his patience and trust in us to prepare him as best as possible  He has not only been a great student but has also provided valuable feedback to our team that has helped us grow. We’re looking forward to more races with him this year as he continues to sharpen his skills.”

In other signing news…
Spire Motorsports has signed driver of the 77 car Carson Hocevar to a “long term” contract.

While a specific number of years was not given, the statement said Hocevar would be driving the number 77 car, “into the next decade”.

Via a team release Hocevar said, “this shows we’re all committed and eager to race with each other for a long time.  I think of Jeff (Dickerson, team co-owner) as a father figure, but the same could be said for Luke (Lambert, crew chief), Tyler (Green, spotter), Bill (Anthony, team president) and all the No. 77 guys. Everyone in the building has really become a family to me. Spire is such a different team now compared to how it was my rookie season, and especially when I made my debut in 2023. It’s fun to know I’m going to be around the Cup garage for a long time, and really a dream come true.”

Spire co-owner Jeff Dickerson added, “it’s a pretty big moment for our company to announce an extension with Carson that takes us out for multiple years.  It’s not just about knowing he’ll be here with us for the long haul, but it gives our sponsors and competition group the foresight to make their own plans knowing he’s in the seat of the number 77 as far as we can see.”

Dickerson continued, “it has been an absolutely rewarding experience getting to know Carson and watching him grow up and learn from the good and bad both at and away from the race track. I love him like a son and it means a great deal to me, personally, knowing he’ll be here for several years.”

He concluded jokingly, “I expect this announcement could test the effectiveness of my blood pressure medication so I’ve alerted my physician, and he may have to adjust the dosage appropriately, but it’ll be worth it.”

Hocevar will also be competing in other racing series including a part time schedule in the Craftsman Truck Series.

This year is Hocevar’s third year as a full itme driver in the Cup Series.  He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2024.

“I love to race, and there’s really no place better to race than here,” Hocevar said.
