Having put their surf and sand music behind, Brian Wilson returned to The Beach Boys in the 70’s to bring all five of the original band together again.
On February 13, Capitol/Ume is releasing a boxed set of The Beach Boys music that was recorded at Brother Studio 1976 and 77.
Anchored around a newly mastered “The Beach Boys Love You” will be an official release of long shelved sessions, outtakes, and alternate recordings.
The set – titled “We Gotta Groove” – includes six discs – 3CD’s and 3LP’s – with 73 tracks with a 40 page book. The package comes in a slipcase with a picture of the stained-glass window from Brother Studio.
To celebrate the release, the Grammy Museum is hosting a special evening on February 12 with a discussion with producers and engineers from Brother Studio and worked on the album.
“The Beach Boys Love You” is the first disc and includes some outtakes. “Adult/Child” gets an update and sees the official light of day for the first time.
“We Gotta Groove” also includes the plethora of studio work titled “15 Big Ones” and includes covers that never made any albums.
