Only two of the 27 names on the ballot for induction into the 2026 National Baseball Hall of Fame will become enshrined into the Hall of Fame this summer.
Centerfielders Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones are the newest members to The Hall.
Inductees are selected by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Nominees must receive at least 75% of the vote before they can be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Beltran was inducted on his fourth try into The Hall; while it was Jones’ ninth attempt (players get 10 tries on the ballot before their names are removed).
Jeff Kent was previously selected to join the Hall of Fame in the Contemporary Era by the Committee.
Manny Ramirez was often known as much for his off field antics as he was for his play on the field. In his 10th and final time on the ballot, he earned just 38.8% of the vote.
A total of 425 BBWAA ballots were cast but eleven of them were returned blank – the most since 2011.
Puerto Rican born player Carlos Beltran spent 20 years in Major League Baseball playing for seven teams – Royals, Astros, Mets, Giants, Cardinals, Yankees and Rangers. After earning the American League Rookie of the Year in 1999, Beltran was a nine time All Star, a three time Gold Glove winner, and a two time Silver Slugger. He earned a World Series ring with the Houston Astros.
Born on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, Andruw Jones was still in his teens when he made his debut with the Atlanta Braves. No ball was safe in the outfield with Andruw Jones in center field. He has earned 10 Gold Gloves and a five time All-Star. He also played for the Yankees, White Sox, Rangers and Dodgers but had the biggest success while playing in Atlanta. Jones is the first player from Curaçao to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
