Well, I could probably name several, but one of the biggest; at least on some days, is simply breathing!
And no, I am not being funny.
I have asthma!
Wildfires, pollution, and any number of environmental smells do not make for a good day of breathing.
And now winter has arrived with some bitter cold temperatures and dry air that can literally take your breath away.
Now, lets add in a little fun. (hahaha), a nebulizer and a portable nebulizer that decide this would be a good time to stop working! Right in the middle of holiday season when hardly anyone is working. Hospitals may have staff on hand, but doctor’s offices are not known for putting in the hours during holidays.
My rescue inhaler was getting quite a workout.
But I called the office and a message was taken. I figured after not getting a response that right after the holidays I would have to track down somebody for help; but they were on the ball and a new nebulizer arrived at my home via mail!!!
Armed with plenty of albuterol, I am breathing again, instead of sounding like a sick wheezing freight train. Not quite back to “normal” but getting close.
With four inhalers – most of them containing steroids – I now resemble a baby whale; but since I like breathing, I guess I’ll have to live with it.
I figure I could look like Barbie and not be able to breathe or I can look like a baby whale and breathe.
I once had a neighbour who refused to use the oxygen her doctor had prescribed. Her reasoning for such behaviour…she didn’t want to become addicted!
