The end of the year always brings lists of “The Best of” all manner of things…including music.

Discogs has released their end of the year lists of musical collections…namely albums.

When CD’s filled the record store, the “experts” proclaimed that vinyl was dead.  Not only has it made a massive resurgence; the 12 inch vinyl discs filled with music have become quite the collector’s item – never to be played, only admired.

Half of the Global Artists Collection are either no longer with us or are a band who is no longer together.  And topping the list is a band that has not been together since 1970!

John, Paul, George, and Ringo – collectively known as The Beatles split up in 1970 but continue to be massively popular around the globe; so much so, that The Fab Four top the list of artists’ whose work has become a collection item.

In compiling their Year in Review lists, Discogs uses nine different regions to cover the globe.

Global Most Collected Artist:
The Beatles
Pink Floyd
