The 2025 baseball season is barely over, but the League is already hard at work planning the special events for next season.
The “Field of Dreams” game returns in 2026 between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies in the Iowa cornfield that was used in the Kevin Costner film with The Twins as the home team.
The August 13 game returns after a four year absence at the refurbished site.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred spoke on the game saying, “Major League Baseball is excited to return to Iowa in 2026 and to deliver a unique experience to the Twins, the Phillies, their players, our two Minor League teams, and fans across the game. We look forward to working with Netflix and creating an event that all sports fans can enjoy.”
Under the new broadcast contract deal, the game will be broadcast on Netflix.
AAA teams from St. Paul (Twins) and Iowa (Cubs) will also play a game amidst the cornfield on August 11.
The “Field of Dreams” game kicks off a three game series between the Twins and Phillies with the cornfield game on Thursday. Games two and three will be held at Target Field on Saturday and Sunday.
Minnesota executive chair Joe Pohlad spoke on the game saying, “the Minnesota Twins are thrilled to be playing in the return of MLB at Field of Dreams. Taking the field in Dyersville, where so much of baseball’s magic comes alive, is special for our club and for our fans in Iowa. August 13, 2026, will be a true celebration of our sport and a memorable day in Twins history.”
After the game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs in 2022, the cornfield facility was renovated and expanded.
Iowa governor Kim Reynolds spoke on the renovated field saying, “Iowa is thrilled to welcome MLB and its players back to the iconic Field of Dreams and a new permanent stadium for one of America’s favorite baseball traditions. Set against a backdrop of rolling cornfields and a star-filled summer sky, this is an event unlike any other. We’re incredibly proud to host fans from across the country and around the world for a game they’ll never forget and an opportunity to experience everything that makes our state so special.”
Phillies managing partner and CEO John Middleton added, “it is an honor to have been selected for the return of the prestigious MLB at ‘Field of Dreams’ game. For our players, this will be an experience they never forget as they step onto the set of one of the most iconic baseball movies ever made.”
Netflix will also be broadcasting the Opening Night for the season and has taken the Home Run Derby from ESPN. MLB Network will also be carrying the Homerun Derby, Opening Night, and “Field of Dreams” game.Top of Form
A little over a week after the “Field of Dreams” game, the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves will play in the “MLB Little League Classic” in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on August 23. The game will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN. The game is a part of the festivities surrounding the annual Little League World Series.
Also a part of the festivities, the Brewers and Braves will be attending the World Series games and the Little Leaguers will attend the MLB game with their families.
