Led by Jonathan Groff as Bobby Darin, “Just in Time” has topped the list of audience capacity every week with Standing Room Only numbers since the show opened late last April.
The Tony Award winning Groff has announced that he will be leaving the show on March 29. Groff has not revealed his future plans after leaving the show or who will be taking over the role of Bobby Darin.
“Just in Time” follows the life of Darin and includes some of his biggest hits including “Splish Splash” and “Mack the Knife”.
Tony Award winning actress Shaina Taub will also be leaving Broadway early next year, but she is only taking a break for a couple of months.
Currently Taub plays Emma Goldman in the revival of “Ragtime”. She is taking a leave of absence from January 6 to March 29.
Taub took to social media to reveal that she and husband Matt Gehring have been trying to have a baby, but unfortunately they have all ended in a miscarriage. She notes that after three miscarriages her mind and body need some time to heal.
An advocate for women’s reproductive healthcare, Taub notes that one of the procedures she had after one of her miscarriages was the type of procedure used in abortions; adding that the procedure is currently illegal in 20 states and had she been somewhere other than New York, she may not have made it.
Taub and husband Matt have launched a fundraiser with Mount Sinai Division of Complex Family Planning – an organization that provides reproductive healthcare at no cost for women from states that restrict or ban abortion.
Taub says, “this continues to be a messy, complicated experience, one we don’t really have language or ritual for. I will try to find more words another time. For now, thank you for reading, and for considering a donation. To those suffering in any degree of silence—I hear you.”
After opening in October, “Ragtime” has been extended to run until June 14, 2026.
