It is often a struggle for Broadway productions to see a profit, but there have been a few in recent years.  The most recent show is “Waiting for Godot” starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

The revival of the Samuel Beckett play debuted on September 13 with an official opening on September 28 and has already recouped all of its investments.

Since “Waiting for Godot” opened at the Hudson Theatre it has consistently been one of the top grossing productions on Broadway.

Last season George Clooney’s appearance in “Good Night, and Good Luck” and the recent return of Leslie Odem Jr’s return to “Hamilton” have shown the success at the box office big name stars can bring.  Keanu Reeves has added his name to the list of actors who has brought success to Broadway.

Currently “Waiting for Godot” is scheduled to run through January 4, 2026.

“Waiting for Godot” originally debuted in 1953 and has become a classic; the current performance is the fourth revival.
