Theatre aficionados have shown that the actor can make or break the production. And last week they proved it at the box office when the big screen’s Draco Malfoy reprises his performance on stage in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, which saw a seven-figure increase at the box office last week. Original Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” franchise, Tom Felton joined the cast of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. In a week when the play put on seven performances with one heavily comped and still brought in over $2.5 million.
Tom Felton is scheduled to be a part of the cast until May 10 of next year.
Having just opened, “Chess” is still being heavily comped and still managed to bring in nearly $2 million last week.
“Oedipus” also opened last week and nearly sold out the house.
“The Great Gatsby” saw a big increase after the return of original actor Jeremy Jordan.
