Daily writing prompt
What’s the first impression you want to give people?

Well, that’s not quite right…
I take pictures, I dont do them!

One on one (or just a few, like a band) is fine, but put a microphone in my face and I clam up and try to hide.

I know strange things for a journalist.

When I first meet someone, I try to show a friendly face, be respectful and courteous, and interested in what they have to say. If I am working, I must also display professionalism and that I know how to do my job.

Working the Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame on Thursday night, I had the rare opportunity to sit near the stage instead of at the back of the room for the ceremony. When I am working, I have a tendency to spread out a bit – take up two seats. In close quarters, I told the gentleman next to me that if no one came and took the seats on the other side of me, I would move down one so as not to bump him. He was very courteous about the whole affair. No one did, and I moved down so I could spread out and have my notebook close at hand. The only bad thing was the angle of the piano blocked the face of the player and the musicians behind it.

Far too many times, I have been dismissed and ignored upon an introduction; I will not treat anyone in that manner.

I have told the story before behind the “golden rule” and the moral of that story is “that which is harmful to you, do not to others”. That is how I try to live my life and that includes a first impression.

My interviews are more of a chat and sometimes I share stories; but my private life is just that private and has no place being plastered all over the internet; especially as a part of a first impression.

What is it “they” say???? You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
