Daily writing prompt
What book are you reading right now?

I do my reading on my Kindle and there are enough books on there to fill a small library. Funny thing is, the list of authors is rather small.

I am an avid but picky reader and have a slect group of authors I read.

The current selection is “Kremlin Strike” by Dale Brown – a former member of the United State Air Force. I particularly like his Patrick McLanahan series which this book is. I’m not sure how many there are in the series now and I don’t have them all…yet. But the one I am reading is number 23 in the series.

When the series begins, Patrick is single and a bombardier in B-52’s. As the series progresses he is stationed at Nellis and works on secret projects, gets married, has a son, becomes a widower, leaves the Air Force for a private company that builds science fiction futuristic equipment for the military…and continues to “fight the bad guys”.

In this book, Patrick’s son Bradley is grown and works with his dad for Sky Masters. They are testing a new spaceplane similar to the shuttles but more advanced.

And low and behold, the Russian leader is launching a new space station that he tells everyone is a replacement for the old International Space Station, but what he doesn’t tell people is this station is armed with some fancy new laser and plasma weapons.

Brad and Boomer take a spaceplane into orbit to check out the new space station and have some fancy little robot drones to check out the station while the plane keeps its distance. The Russians take the bots for weapons and start shooting and when the finish with the bots with the laser, they aim for the spaceplane with the plasma weapon.

Brad and Boomer have some previously untested new fangled orbit recovery suits and make their escape.

Boomer is down and safe…not sure about Brad…yet. His signal activated then stopped and the hunt is on…

And that’s as far as I have gotten; almost halfway through the book…need a few more days before I finish it.

Yeah, I read a LOT and can read a 400 plus page book in about a week.

Last count was 56 books this year…and counting with 1532 consecutive days of reading. Wonder how high I can get??? 🙂

I also like books by Clive Cussler, Daniel Silva, James Rollins, and Alistair MacLean. If I want some really light weight reading, a Cat Who book by Lillian Jackson Braun is a good read.
