Comedic actor Adam Sandler is once again being honoured by the AARP – American Association for Retired People – for film achievements.
Already a recipient of the AARP Best Actor Award, Sandler will receive the Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award at a ceremony in January. The annual awards event is scheduled to be aired on PBS in February as a part of “Great Performances”.
Sandler’s film credits include “Billy Madison”, “Happy Gilmore”, “Punch-Drunk Love”, “Uncut Gems”, and appearances on “Saturday Night Live”. Over the summer, Sandler added a new “Happy Gilmore” film and will be starring with George Clooney in “Jay Kelly”
AARP issued a statement about the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor winner saying, “is one of Hollywood’s most enduring and ever-evolving stars, whose talents resonate across generations.”
AARP CEO Myechia Minter-Jordan added that Sandler is, “a Hollywood legend whose remarkable career has set a new standard for comedic storytelling, captivating audiences across generations.”
He added,“Adam’s enduring success, his ability to reinvent himself, inspire laughter, and move us through dramatic performances is a testament to the power of creativity at every age.”
AARP created the “Movies for Grownups” program back in 2002 to fight ageism in Hollywood and advocate for film productions for grownups; made by grownups.
