The Xfinity Series takes to the track for some afternoon practice and qualifying before doing some Saturday night racing at Martinsville Speedway for the IAA and Ritchie Bros 250.

Thirty-nine teams have brought cars for 38 starting spots.

The drivers are divided into two groups for 25 minute practice sessions before making a qualifying run.

After running in the Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday evening, Brenden Queen returns to run in the Xfinity Series race.  Retina specialist Dr. Patrick Staropoli is also doing double duty this weekend and running in both the Truck and Xfinity Series races.

After his crash last week at Talladega, William Sawalich began showing concussion like symptoms during the week and is not in his number 18 car this week.  Justin Bonsignore is taking over the driving duties in the 18 this weekend.

Sam Hunt Racing has announced that Harrison Burton will be driving the numbery 24 car next season in the O’Reilly Auto Parts (Xfinity) series next season.

Connor Zilisch had a bit of trouble on the track and got into the wall.  The damage was significant enough that he will not make a qualifying run and start the race form the back of the field.  Zilisch has secured a spot in the championship four; along with Justin Allgaier.

Ryan Sieg topped the leaderboard after both practice sessions.

The first car on the track to make a qualifying run is Preston Pardus who posted a time of 20.470 seconds around the half mile track.

The first driver to break the 20 second mark is Brenden Queen with a time of 19.92 seconds.

With a time of 19.843 seconds Harrison Burton earns his first pole to put his number 25 car on the pole; Carson Kvapil will start alongside on the front row.

Preston Pardus failed to qualify for the race.

Stages one and two of the race are 60 laps each with stage three lasting 130 laps for a total of 250 laps around the half mile track.

Back in the field, there is a lot of contact among the drivers as they work their way through the field.

Carson Kmapil is falling through the field and has gone from fourth to seventh.

After starting the race back in the field, Sammy Smith has moved up four spots.

At 47 degrees, it is one of the coldest nights of racing.

Lap 14, Harrison Burton and Aric Almirola battle for the lead.

Lap 15, the top five are Harrison Burton, Aric Almirola, Justin Allgaier, Ryan Sieg, and Sheldon Creed.

Lap 17, Brenden Queen passes Sheldon Creed for fifth.

Lap 25, Aric Almirola has a lead of over a second on Justin Allgaier; Harrison Burton, Ryan Sieg, and Brenden Queen round out the top five.

Teammates Carson Kvapil and Sammy Smith are in a battle for ninth.

Lap 30, leader Aric Almirola is beginning to lap slower traffic.

The first caution flag of the race comes out on lap 32 when Myatt Snider spins out after some contact from Nick Sanchez.

Leader Aric Almirola is among the drivers who come down pit road for service; as does Justin Allgaier.  Brenden Queen is the new leader with Jeb Burton is in second.

Nick Sanchez, Garrett Smithley, and Jesse Love were caught speeding on pit road and Ryan Ellis was charged with a commitment cone violation.

Connor Zilisch had some contact with Dean Thompson ans has a bit of damage to the front of his car.

Lap 41, the top five are Brenden Queen, Sam Mayer, Christian Eckes, Daniel Dye, and Anthony Alfredo.  Connor Zilisch and Justin Allgaier are just outside the top five in sixth and seventh.

The caution flag comes out on lap 46 for Connor Mosack who spins out.  Myatt Snider is the “lucky dog”.

Brenden Queen brings the field down for the green flag restart with Sam Mayer alongside with eight laps remaining in stage one.  Queen and Mayer go side by side in a battle for the lead with Justin Allgaier on their bumper.

With six laps to go, Sam Mayer edges out for the lead and Justin Allgaier battles with Brenden Queen for second.

With three laps to go in stage one, Justin Allgaier passes Sam Mayer for the lead.

Sam Mayer got loose and drops to fifth.

Justin Allgaier wins stage one for his 14th stage win of the season.

 The caution flag comes out on lap 92 when Jeb Burton spins out with a flat tire.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Justin Allgaier winning the race off of pit road but not all of the drivers made a pit stop.

Brad Perez and Kyle Sieg were caught speeding on pit road. Jeb Burton pitted while pit road was closed and Jesse Love is charged with equipment  interference.

With 71 to go, leader Aric Almirola passes Jesse Love to put him a lap down.  He was 40 points above the cut line when the race started.

With 66 laps to go, Aric Almirola and Taylor Gray continue to battle for the lead.

The caution flag comes out with 58 laps to go when Josh Williams, Brenden Queen, and Brendan Poole make contact and spin out. 

Drivers come down pit road including the leaders.  Nick Sanchez is the new leader.

As the laps tick down, so does the patience level.

The caution flag comes out with 31 laps to go when Parker spins out.  Brad Perez is also stopped on the track after some on track contact.  Jesse Love is the “lucky dog”.

The caution flag comes out with just five laps remaining in the race for Daniel Dye with a flat tire. 

Before the caution flag came out, Brandon Jones passed Sammy Smith for second.

The race goes into overtime!
