The newest exhibit at The Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY is a collection of dollhouses and miniatures. Ranging from some that were originally owned by the founder of The Strong Museum Margaret Woodbury Strong to the Barbie Mansion.
“Dollhouses Unveiled” is a journey in history and how they went from educational tools to cherished toys of little girls around the world.
The exhibit opened September 27 and will run through January 4, 2026 and includes:
the 1837 Amsterdam House that was first displayed at the Hotel Des Pays-Bas in Amsterdam, Netherlands
The 1890 Blue Roof Victorian Mansion that was an F.A.O. Schwartz Christmas exclusive
The 1955 Betsy McCall Dollhouse – a split-level from the McCall’s Do-It-Yourself Full-Scale and Transfer Pattern
The 1963 Wedding Cake House built as a replica of a 1825 Kennebunk, Maine shipbuilder’s home
The 1979 Barbie Dreamhouse
And the 2001 Kaleidoscope House
The Strong Museum of Play is located in Rochester, New York and includes dozens of interactive exhibits; as well as, the National Toy Hall of Fame and the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
