Last month ESPN College Gameday icon Lee Corso turned 90 and gave his final Gameday appearance to begin the 2025 College football season at Ohio State where he donned Bucky’s headgear in his final game prediction.

While he has retired from donning the headgear on College Gameday; Corso is not done attending the games.

When the Miami Hurricanes comes to Bobby Bowdon Field at Doak Campbell Stadium on October to play the Florida State Seminoles; one of the school’s iconic alumni will be among the War Chant yelling crowd…Lee Corso!

It is a reunion weekend for the players who were coached by Tom Nugent from 1953 to 1958.  When Corso played for Coach Nugent, he was known as the Sunshine Scooter.

As a student at FSU, Corso’s roommate went on to become a big film star – Burt Reynolds.

It is still unknown whether or not ESPN will bring College Gameday to Tallahassee, but ABC has announced the game will be aired in prime time with a 7:30pm start.

Corso is set to attend the “Nugent’s Boys” reunion on October 3 and the game on Saturday.

Between the years of 1953 to 1958, Tom Nugent coached over 100 players; the list of reunion attendees is now down to under a dozen.

Former FSU Seminole player and Tallahasse resident Bob Carnes has been hosting the annual event, but indicates this may be the final reunion, “this is probably going to be our last fling.  It was a great era, so many memories. We were there at the start, when we finally started beating some of the SEC teams.”

The FSU Athletic department indicated that there may be some form of a tribute to Corso during the game; but nothing has been finalized.

The Seminoles are scheduled to play the University of Virginia on Friday night and take a 3-0 record going into the game and are ranked number eight in the AP Top 25.

While he is known as a football player at FSU, Corso was a two sport athlete; playing baseball.

As a player for the Noles, Corso has a career record of 2,650 all purpose yards and 24 interceptions – a record that stood for 24 years.  Corso was also an assistant coach under Coach Nugent for two years.
