I am a pretty openminded person. I enjoy learning new things. But there is one thing I have had more than enough of hearing and seeing in the news…the goings on in the White House.
There is obviously a lack of understanding of the when it comes to math, science, history, geography, and civics…basically everything I learned in school.
When I read, sometimes my map app gets a real workout because I want to know where the characters are; especially if it is a location I am not familiar with; like a recent read that took place around Australia and Antartica. There was an island called Heard Island and I was curious.
Reading with a Kindle has its advantages. 🙂 Some of the books I read are filled with scientific facts or information on art, or medical stuff and with the Kindle I can highlight it. Recently, it took me longer to read the book because I was highlighting stuff all over the place. I read fiction, but the authors I like place their fictional characters into real life situations or James Rollins will gather a few bits of events and mash them all up to create his story…fake people in real stuff :).
From the THEY file…you are never too old to learn and maybe you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but age does not stop you from picking up new things. There is so much stuff stuck up there in my head, it’s amazing that I can keep it all straight sometimes.
I really enjoyed the NCIS series “NCIS: New Orleans” starring Scott Bakula. He would always tell his people to go out and “learn things”…he always had music in the show too. 🙂
