Three time Cy Young Award winning pitcher Clayton Kershaw announced that at the end of the 2025 season he will retire after 18 years of baseball.

While it is not unusual to see a player play for multiple teams over the course of his career, Clayton Kershaw has spent his entire career as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Along with his three Cy Young Awards, Kershaw has a part of eleven All Star games, is a Roberto Clemente Award winner, an MVP. and a two time World Series winning pitcher.

Earlier this season he took the mound at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles where he struck out three players to earn his 3,000th career strike out – one of only 20 pitchers to do so.  He currently has 3,039 strikeouts.  He leads all active players with a record of 222-96 and 15 shutouts.

He will make his last regular season debut on September 19 at Dodger Stadium.  The father of four (with one one the way) is 37 years old.

Kershaw has a career 2.54 ERA – 25th on the all time list -, and is one of only three active pitchers with at least 200 career wins; along with Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer.

Dodgers owner and chairman Mark Walter issued a statement saying, “on behalf of the Dodgers, I congratulate Clayton on a fabulous career and thank him for the many moments he gave to Dodger fans and baseball fans everywhere, as well as for all of his profound charitable endeavors.  His is a truly legendary career, one that we know will lead to his induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame.”
