Next year will be the 100th birthday of Blues music legend B.B. King. Ume has planned a year long celebration of the iconic musician.
Born September 16, 1925 in Mississippi into a sharecropper family. Long before he sang the Blues, he lived it; picking cotton and singing on street corners. King went on to become one of the best known Blues players in the world.
He has played with Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, U2, and helped to get Joe Bonamassa his start when he was just a child.
King’s accolades include 15 Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy, a Kennedy Center Honors, a National Medal of Arts recipient, a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, and a member of the Rock and Roll and Blues Halls of Fame.
B.B. King has inspired numerous artists through the generations.
