Over the past two weekends the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented hundreds of Creative Arts Emmy Awards.  Tonight it is time for the presentation of the Prime Time Emmy Awards.

Comedian Nate Borgatze is hosting the show and promises no political humour. 

The show opens with a skit on the invention of television by Philo T Farnsworth.

Ten time Emmy Award winner Stephen Colbert takes the stage to a standing ovation.  He presents the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series to Seth Rogen for his role in “The Studio”.  This is his first Emmy win.

Host Nate Borgatze’s idea for keeping the speeches to the designated 45 seconds is he has announced that he is donating $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club; $1,000 will be deducted for each second over the  45 seconds.  For every second under  the 45 seconds, $1,000 will be added to the donation.

The award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series goes to Jean Smart for her role in “Hacks”.  This is her fourth win for the role and seventh overall. 

The award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series goes to Katherine LaNasa for her role in “The Pitt”.

The award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series goes to Tramell Tillman for his role in “Severance”.  This is his first nomination and win.

The award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series goes to Britt Lower for her role in “Severance”.  This is her first nomination and win.

It has been 40 years since the debut of the comedy “The Golden Girls”; Reba and the ladies from Little Big Town pay tribute to the show with a performance of the theme song.  The audience is singing along.

The award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series goes to Hannah Einbinder for her role in “Hacks”.  This is her first win.

The award for Reality Competition Series goes to “The Traitors”.  This is their second win in a row.

The award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series goes to Jeff Hiller for his role in “Somebody Somewhere”.  This is his first nomination and win.

The award for Best Direction in a Comedy Series goes to Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg for “The Studio”.

The award for Best Direction in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Made for Television Film goes to Philip Barantini for “Adolescence”.  This is his first win.

The award for Best Direction for a Drama Series goes to Adam Randall for “Slow Horses”.  This is his first nomination and win.

Five time Emmy Award winner and host of the reality show “Survivor” Jeff Prost pays tribute to his show “Survivor” by using the show’s format to announce the winner of the Best Scripted Variety Series to John Oliver for “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”.

The award for Best Writing in a Drama Series goes to Dan Gilroy for “Andor”.  This is his first nomination and win.

The award for Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes to Owen Cooper in “Adolescence”.  This is his first nomination and win.  The series was filmed in one continuous take.

The award for Best Writing in a Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes to Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham for “Adolescence”. 

The award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series goes to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Hyack, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez for “The Studio”.

The award for Outstanding Live Variety Special goes to “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special”.

The award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series goes to the writing team from “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”.  The show has won the award for the past nine years.

The award for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes to Erin Doherty for her role in “Adolescence”.  This is her first win.

The award for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes to Cristen Miloti for her role in “The Penguin”.  This is her first nomination and win.

Academy president Cris Abrego speaks on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting who won the Governors Award during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.  Due to the failure of Congress to continue funding, CPB will be shutting down by the end of the year.  He encourages people to continue working on culture for all.

The 2025 Bob Hope Humanitarian Award goes to Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson.  Danson noted that the award in named for a man who honoured his name Hope who spent 50 years entertaining the world and spreading Hope.

Vince Gil and Lainey Wilson perform as the In Memoriam remembers those who have passed on over the past year.

The award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes Stephen Graham for his role in “Adolescence”. 

The award for Outstanding Talk Show goes to “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.  Earlier this year, CBS and Paramount announced that the show was being cancelled at the end of the season in May.  Colbert told the audience that if the elevator tries to take you down, go crazy and push the button for a higher floor!

The award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series or Made for TV Movie goes to “Adolescence”.

The award for Best Comedy Series goes to “The Studio”.

The award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series goes to Noah Wyle for his role in “The Pitt”.  This is his first win.

The drama series “Law & Order” franchise has been a part of television for 35 years.  Actors from the show present the award for the Outstanding Drama Series to “The Pitt”.

The money count ended in the negative but Nate said that he is donating $250,000 and CBS is donating $100,000 for a total donation to the Boys and Girls Club of $350,000!
