After the most recent scandal among Norwegian Ski Jumpers, Olympic gold medal winners Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang have accepted a three month ban.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation issued the ban for manipulating and modifying ski jump suits to increase the aerodynamics of the suits to increase distance during a jump. The FIS stated that the jumpers were “willing to accept” the sanctions.
In making their ruling, the FIS said the jumpers, “were not charged with actual knowledge of the manipulations but should have checked and asked questions about the night-time adjustments.”
With just a three month ban, the jumpers will be permitted to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina and Milan. Lindvik is the reigning men’s large hill event champion.
During the Nordic world championships, the Norwegian ski jump team had a number of team members were disqualified from competing when accusations of manipulated ski suits arose.
Accusations over modified ski jump suits that would allow the jumper to fly further arose back in March when head coach Magnus Brevik and equipment manager Adrian Livelten admitted that the suits had been altered.
After the issue arose at the Nordic championships the FIS opened an ethics investigation several of the team members including Lindvik and Forfang.
A secret camera filmed the ski jump suits being increased in size in such a way that they could only be discovered by tearing the suits apart. The Austrian, Slovenian, and Polish teams filed a formal protest.
