An industry award, the Grammy is intended to signify excellence for one’s work and recognized by one’s peers.

In recent years there has been a great deal of controversy over the nomination process and choice of winners.  In answer, the Recording Academy has expanded its membership to make it more diversified to represent more of the American population.

Country star Morgan Wallen’s latest album “I’m the Problem” has spent the pas eleven weeks at the top of the Billboard Album 200 chart, but Wallen has chosen not to submit the album to the Recording Academy for Grammy Award consideration.  In addition, he will not be submitting any singles recording or songwriting credits either.

Songs that were written by Wallen and other songwriters will only list the names of the other writers.  The album is huge release equal to many deluxe and expanded collections with 37 songs.

This is not the first time an artists has chosen not to submit their work for Grammy consideration; Drake, The Weeknd, and Frank Ocean are the most recent artists.

Wallen, like other artists who have withheld their work feels that the Academy has disregarded their musical contributions and passed them over.

To date, Morgan Wallen has not received any Grammy Award nominations for any of his solo work.  His only nomination cam with a collaboration with Post Malone.

In contrast, the Academy of Country Music has nominated Wallen 20 times with three wins and the Country Music Association has nominated Wallen 13 times with one win for Entertainer of the Year last year.

“I Am the Problem” is Wallen’s latest album to reach number one; he currently has a total of 40 weeks sitting atop the Billboard 200 Album chart – a feat accomplished by just eight artists in the 70 year history of the 200 Album chart.  Incidentally, those eight artists are multiple Grammy Award winners.

Nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards will be announced on November 7.
