Ten years and counting…
Last week Lin Manuel-Miranda’s musical “Hamilton” celebrated 10 years on Broadway and shows no signs of slowing down as the musical continues to appear on the Million Dolla Club and 90% Club lists every week.
With its 10th year anniversary celebrations, “Hamilton” topped the list last week with a box office draw of over $2 million.
But overall, there was a drop at the box office last week as the summer holidays wind down and children head back to school. Last week Broadway took in just $29.79 million – a near 4% drop in receipts – from 245,807 theater fans watching the productions.
But the official beginning of the fall season is on the way and will feature a return of Broadway Week next month.
In its first full week as a revival, “Mamma Mia!” brought in the highest box office numbers in the show’s history.
Just 13 of the 29 shows currently running made it into the Million Dollar Club last week with the top two shows topping the $2 million mark.
