Broadway lost two more shows last week with the closure of “Sunset Boulevard” and “Pirates! The Penzance Musical”; leaving 26 productions currently running.

While it has been a popular draw, tickets for “Hamilton” are getting hard to come by as the 10th anniversary of the show draws near.  Of the 15 shows that made it in the Million Dollar club last wee, “Hamilton” was one of the three shows that brought in over $2 million.  Not surprisingly, “Wicked” is still leading the way with a draw of nearly $2.4 million.

“Call Me Izzy” saw a significant boost last week with the return of Jean Smart after recovering from a knee injury.

With flooding streets, scorching heat, and back-to-school concerns, Broadway box office receipts were down last week.  But the official beginning to the fall season is right around the corner and the Opera Ghost makes his return later this week.

The Million Dollar Club:
“Wicked” – $2.39 million
“The Lion King” – $2.32 million
“Hamilton” – $2.24 million

Nearly all of the 28 shows made it into the 90 percent club with 22 shows making the list and once again the top 10 had an audience capacity of at least 100 percent with the Bobby Darin musical “Just in Time” leading the way.
