Actor Julian McMahon died July 2 as a result of cancer at the age of 56.  His wife noted in a statement that McMahon “died peacefully”.  She continued, “Julian loved life.  He loved his family. He loved his friends He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”

Appearing in dozens of productions, McMahon is best known as Dr. Doom in the “Fantastic Four” franchise and his appearances in the television series’ “Charmed”, “Profiler”, and “Nip/Tuck”.

McMahon made his television debut in as a police witness in “Rafferty’s Rules”.  From there, he went to appear in nearly four dozen productions including “The Power and the Passion” (Australian “Dynasty”), “Home and Away”, Ian Rain in 22 episodes of the daytime drama “Another World”, “Will & Grace”, “Robot Chicken”, the “FBI” franchise, and “The Residence”.

He was born Julian Dana William McMahon on July 27, 1968 in Sydney Australia; the only son of three children to a knight and the former Prime Minister of Australia.

Bored at university, McMahon began his career as a model and commercial actor.  He is also a veteran of the theatre in Australia and England.

He was in the running to become the first Australian James Bond but lost out to Daniel Craig.

He is survived by his third wife Kelly and daughter Madison.
