The current White House administration in the United States is not known for respecting copyright laws when it comes to music artists.  Numerous times they have used songs without permission.

The latest instance of such activity involved the Department of Defense and hard rockers Metallica.

The DOD posted a video on social media that featured the Metallica song “Enter Sandman”.  The video included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth promoting U.S. military drones.

When the video was first posted, Metallica immediately issued a copyright notice to the DOD; and the original video was taken down.  The drone video has been relaunched minus the music.

A spokesperson for the Pentagon said, “this afternoon, representatives from X reached out to DoD regarding a video posted to our social media page and asked that the video be removed due to a copyright issue with the song ‘Enter Sandman’ by Metallica. The video has been taken down, corrected, and re-uploaded to our page.”

Metallica was among the artists who paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on July 5 in Birmingham.  They have plans for a tour next year.
