“Wicked” is a smash on Broadway, was a big smash hit in the theatres, and has now become a bit hit as a soundtrack.
The RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America – has certified the soundtrack for the Original Broadway Cast quadruple platinum for selling four million copies in the United States – five million worldwide.
In celebration of the event, Decca Broadway is releasing the album as a double picture vinyl disc of the show’s soundtrack on October 3. Original “Wicked” cast members Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth will adorn the picture discs; as well as, images from the Broadway show. One side of each album will include zoetrope that will feature “Wicked” coming to life as the record spins.

The feature film based on the Broadway production earned hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office and two Academy Awards.
Part two of the story, “Wicked: For Good”, will open in theaters November 21. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande return in part two.
And as a teaser of things to come, on November 6 members of the cast including Cynthia Erivo land Ariana Grande will give a concert performance live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to air on NBC with streaming available the following day on Peacock.
