Chase Elliott jumped at the chance to drive the number 17 Hendricks.com care in the Xfinity Series race at Pocono on Saturday and took the car to a fourth place finish.

Unfortunately for Hendrick Motorsports, the car did not fair as well; one of the cars NASCAR selected to take back to their R&D center, it was discovered an issue with the Main Frame Rail Conical Receivers.

According to the NASCAR rule book, the 17 violated sections 14.3.3.2.1.1 K&L.

As a result of the infraction, the 17 team was fined $40,000, docked 40 car owner points, and 10 Playoff owner points.  Crew chief Adam Wall was suspended for three races.  He will be allowed to return to the pit box for the road course race at Sonoma.

The Hendrick Motorsports number 17 car is a multiple driver part time car and with Cup Series regular Chase Elliott behind the wheel, there were no driver points available to take away.

There were no other penalties levied after the triple header weekend at Pocono.
