The Cup Series caps off a triple header weekend on Sunday but first the 37 drivers have a Saturday afternoon practice and qualifying session for the Great American Getaway 400.

Seven time Pocono winner Denny Hamlin returns to the track after missing last week in Mexico City for the birth of his son Jameson.

The drivers have been divided into two groups for a 25 minute practice session.

Codey Ware spins out and gets into the wall during practice in turn three – at only six degrees of banking, turn three is the flattest of the three turns.

Brennan Poole will not be making a qualifying run.

Kurt Busch joins the Prime desk crew during Cup practice.  He said that it was the first time he had returned to  Pocono since his accident.  Busch will be giving the command for the race on Sunday.

Brad Keselowski tops the leaderboard in Group 1 practice.

Josh Berry has a broken difuser and will not make a qualifying run and will start the race from the back of the field.

Christopher Bell had no power steering when he started the car; the crew is currently changing the power steering pump in hopes of getting it done in time for Bell to make a few laps.

After his practice laps crash, Cody Ware will not make a qualifying run.

Once the Group 2 drivers got on the race track, Brad Keselowski dropped from first to tenth on the leaderboard for fastest lap.

William Byron not only leads the fastest lap; he also leads the 10 and 15 lap times.  With 10 minutes remaining in practice, the crew is making some adjustments to the steering wheel.

AJ Allmendinger reports that his car is “plowing tight”.  He brings the car in for some adjustments.  He said that when he loses front grip, he loses everything.

The first driver on the track to make a qualifying run is Ty Dillon who posted a time of 53.107.

The engine won’t crack for Bubba Wallace; he has been pushed back.  Nine guys tried pushing the car to get it started and it won’t start.  Reports are the starter is bad.

William Byron gets loose in the bumps of the tunnel turn and gets into the wall.  Byron will go to a backup car.

Chase Elliott was on the track when teammate William Byron crashed.  NASCAR is giving Elliott a new set of tires to make a new qualifying attempt.

With a time of 52.144 seconds Denny Hamlin puts his number eleven car on the pole with Chris Buescher starting alongside on the front row.

Mother Nature was kind for the Truck and Xfinity races, but a big storm moved through the area on Sunday morning dropping rain and flashing lightening to delay the start of the race.

Stage one of the race is 30 laps with stages two and three are 65 laps for a total of 160 laps around the 2.5 mile track.  The drivers can run 38 to 40 laps on a single load of fuel.

Brennan Poole did not make a qualifying run after failing the inspection process several times and will start the race form the back of the field and will have to serve a pass through penalty once the race goes green.

Ryan Blaney will have to start the race from the back of the field after the crew replaced the starter after qualifying.  Ty Dillon, Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Cody Ware, and Josh Berry will also have to start the race from the back of the field after crews made unapproved adjustments to the cars.

On the final Prime Video broadcast, Denny Hamlin brings the field down for the green flag start of the race before a sell out crowd with Chris Buescher alongside.  Drivers spread out three and four wide going into turn one with Denny Hamlin leading the way.

Lap two, the top five are Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher, Carson Hocevar, Cole Custer, and Tyler Reddick.

Tyler Reddick passes Cole Custer for fourth.

A 2.5 mile track, the drivers can make use of the draft.

Lap five, Denny Hamlin has a third of a second lead on Chris Buescher; Carson Hocevar, Tyler Reddick, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

Lap six, Chris Buescher is closing the gap on leader Denny Hamlin and is now less than a quarter of a second behind.

Lap seven, Chris Buescher drops down to battle with Denny Hamlin for the lead.  Hamlin holds on to the lead.

Lap 10, Denny Hamlin continues to lead the race but has been getting some pressure from second place driver Chris Buescher; Carson Hocevar, Tyler Reddick, and Chase Briscvoe round out the top five.

After starting from the back of the field, William Byron has entered the top 20.

Lap 14, Denny Hamlin has led every lap so far and has a third of a second lead on Chris Buescher; Carson Hocevar, Tyler Reddick, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

Lap 18, Denny Hamlin has pulled out to a half second lead on Chris Buescher.

Carson Hocevar gets loose and hits the wall with the right rear; the roof flaps even deployed.  He reports a very loose condition.

Lap 22, Denny Hamlin has a lead of over half a second on Chris Buescher; Tyler Reddick, Carson Hocevar, and Chase Briscoe round out the top five.

Chase Briscoe and Carson Hocevar battle for fourth.

Chase Briscoe passes Carson Hocevar; Cole Custer moves up to battle for fifth.

Lap 26, Carson Hocevar retakes fifth place from Cole Custer; Brad Keselowski and Ty Gibbs battle for sixth.

Daniel Suarez is the first driver to short pits the stage and come down pit road.  Drivers need to be withing 14 seconds of the leaders to stay on the lead lap when short pitting.

Leader Denny Hamlin has begun passing slower traffic.

Three laps remain in stage one, half a dozen drivers come down pit road to short pit the end of the stage. 

Denny Hamlin leads every lap to win stage one.

Kyle Busch was caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.  Todd Gilliland was charged with having too many crew over the wall.

Brad Keselowski brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 36 with Ty Gibbs alongside.  Drivers get four wide across the track.

The top five are Brad Keselowski, Carson Hocevar, Ty Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek, and Cole Custer.  Denny Hamlin is just outside the top five in sixth.

Lap 37, starting in the back of the field after a speeding penalty, Kyle Busch has moved up to 30th.

Drivers are hitting 196mph around the track.

Lap 40, Brennan Poole is the only driver not on the lead lap.

The caution flag comes out on lap 42 when Riley Herbst gets into the wall with a blown tire.

Brennan Poole is the “lucky dog”; putting all drivers on the track on the lead lap.

Some of the drivers come down pit road for service; however, they cannot make it to the end of the stage if it stays green.

AJ Allmendinger hits one of Shane van Gisbergen’s pit crew members coming into his pit stall.

Brad Keselowski brings the field down for the green flag restart with Carson Hocevar alongside on lap 49.  Keselowski gets out in front.

The top five are Brad Keselowski, Carson Hocevar, William Byron, Denny Hamlin, and John Hunter Nemechek.

Riley Herbst is out of the race.

Lap 51, Brad Keselowski has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Carson Hocevar; Denny Hamlin, William Byron, and Chase Elliott round out the top five.

On the last caution flag, Alex Bowman was one of the drivers to make a pit stop.  When the crew checked the tires, they found one of them was going flat.

The caution flag comes out on lap 55 when Bubba Wallace gets into the wall with a flat tire and is out of the race.  Video showed that a brake rotor blew out and cut the tire.

Bubba Wallace is the second 23XI car to get into the wall with a flat tire; and out of the race.

Leader Brad Keselowski comes down pit road with a closed pit road.  He will restart the race from the back of the field.  Brennan Poole and Ryan Blaney also came down pit road while it was closed and will restart from the back of the field.

With pit road open, several drivers come down pit road for service.  Drivers can make it to the end of the stage from here.  Denny Hamlin wins the race off of pit road but 10 drivers stayed out on the track.

Joey Logano is the leader of the race.

Joey Logano brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 60 with Austin Cindric alongside.  Drivers spread out four and five wide going into turn one.  Logano leads the race.

Carson Hocevar passes Josh Berry for fifth.

Lap 63, Alex Bowman passes Joey Logano for the lead.

Lap 64, the top five are Alex Bowman, Joey Logano, Ricky Stenhouse, Carson Hocevar, and Austin Cindric.

Murphy’s Law strikes again…Ricky Stenhouse Jr is in third place with Carson Hocevar right behind him in fourth.  After some on track contact last week in Mexico City, Stenhouse threatened Hocevar for retribution once they returned to the United States.

Lap 68, Alex Bowman has pulled out to a one second lead on Joey Logano; Ricky Stenhouse, Carson Hocevar, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

All 35 drivers on the track are on the lead lap.

Lap 70, Alex Bowman has a near second and a half lead on Joey Logano.

Lap  73, Michael McDowell brings his car down pit road with a flat tire; the track stays green.  McDowell said that he had some brake shake before the rotors exploded.

Lap 74, Chase Briscoe brings his car down pit road for service.

Lap 77, the caution flag comes out for debris on the track.

Several drivers come down pit road for service including leader Alex Bowman.

Todd Gilliland and Brennan Poole made pit stops before pit road was open.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr brings the field down for the green flag restart with Carson Hocevar alongside on lap 81.  Hocevar takes the lead but Chase Briscoe comes up on the inside to take the lead.

William Byron passes Josh Berry for fourth.

Brad Keselowski is back up to sixth place after a pit road penalty.

The caution flag comes out on lap 83 for a crash.  Kyle Busch gets loose and spins out in a battle with Zane Smith; Christoppher Bell, Shane van Gisbergen, and Ty Dillon.

Tyler Reddick takes his car to the garage with brake issues.

A few drivers come down pit road for service.

Lap 106, Brad Keselowski passes Joey Logano and Carson Hocevar for eleventh.

Lap 108, Chase Briscoe has pulled out to a quarter of a second lead on Chris Buescher; third place driver Denny Hamlin is over a second back with Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney rounding out the top five.

Brennan Poole returns to the track eleven laps down but has too many crew over the wall and has to serve a passthrough penalty.

With 47 laps remaining in the race, Chase Briscoe leads the race with Chris Buescher in second; Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney round out the top five.

Lap 116, Ryan Blaney passes Chase Elliott for fourth.

Lap 117, Chase Briscoe has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Chris Buescher; Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, and Chase Elliott round out the top five.

Lap 119, the pit window is open for the drivers to make it to the end of the race.  Austin Cindric and Josh Berry make their pit stops.

With 36 laps to go, Ryan Blaney makes his pit stop and gives the lead over to Brad Keselowski.

The caution flag comes out for the seventh time when Shane van Gisbergen spins out.

The top six drivers have yet to make a pit stop.

Chase Briscoe’s crew reports that he does not have enough fuel to make it to the end of the race.

Lap 127, the drivers who have not made a pit stop come down pit road for service.  Kyle Busch reports a tight condition in his car.

Chase Briscoe brings the field down for the green flag restart with Denny Hamlin alongside with 30 laps remaining in the race.  Briscoe takes the lead.  Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin battle for second.

With 25 laps to go, Chase Briscoe has a quarter of a second lead on Denny Hamlin.  Briscoe is in fuel conservation mode; hoping to make it to the end of the race.

The glare from the sun has become an issue for the drivers in the tunnel turn.

Chase Briscoe is the only driver in the top five that has yet to win a race this season.

In fuel conservation mode, Chase Briscoe is running faster laps.

Chase Briscoe’s crew tells him that if he maintains his current fuel conservation, they can make it to the end of the race.

Twelve to go, Chase Briscoe has a lead of over half a second on Denny Hamlin.

Ten to go! Chase Briscoe continues to lead the race in fuel conservation mode and has a lead of over half a second on Denny Hamlin.

Eight to go, Chase Briscoe’s crew says that they can make it to the end of the race; Denny Hamlin’s crew says that Briscoe is short.

Five to go, Chase Briscoe holds on to the lead with Denny Hamlin in second.

Three to go, Chase Briscoe holds on to the lead.

Chase Briscoe takes the white flag.

Chase Briscoe becomes the sixth driver in eight races to earn his first win in a fuel milage race.  This is the 18th win at Pocono for Coach Gibbs and JGR.

Briscoe even had enough fuel left for a burnout!
