Over the weekend King Charles III released the annual Birthday Honours and among the list of honourees are actor Elaine Paige, The Who’s Roger Daltrey, Gary Oldman, and football star David Beckham. The various Orders of the British Empire Awards are presented for outstanding contributions to British life through science, sports, music, and humanitarian efforts.
Earning an Olivier Award for her musical theatre appearances, Elaine Paige has been knighted and is know as Dame Elaine.
One of the biggest names in the world of football (soccer), David Beckham’s name is as well known around the world as that of Pele…even to non-football fans. As a part of King Charles III Birthday Honours, David Robert Joseph Beckham has been knighted and is now Sir Daivd.
Known as the lead singer of British rock legends The Who, Roger Harry Daltrey is also known as an actor and holds the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire; however, as a part of King Charles’ Birthday Honours, Daltrey has been knighted for his contributions to music and chartable endeavours. Well done, Sir Roger!
The National Theatre Director and Chief Executive Office Rufus John Norris and actor Gary Leonard Oldman have also earned knighthoods.
