During their recent meeting the NFL owners chose to continue the Philadelphia Eagles to use the play known as the “tush push”. The vote fell just two votes short of being banned.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell noted that the League will continue to monitor the play with possibly voting on the move again at next year’s meetings.
When asked whether or not he favoured the play and how he felt about the vote; Goodell said, he “usually takes a neutral position on wanting to make sure that the process goes well, but also that there’s a full discussion.”
Goodell added that the Competition Committee would continue to study the play; saying, “we’ll see how it plays out this season. And then we’ll come back, and we’ll discuss those as we always do every year. What’s the right way to go forward? So, I think the discussion was helpful to us and what we want to focus on this season.”
