It has been 10 years since Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister died; but for metalheads around the world the British rocker will live on forever.
On May 9, a statue of the rocker was unveiled in his hometown in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent in the north of England. Cremated after his death, some of those ashes reside inside the statue.
The statue is a part of the “Lemmy Forever” campaign to enshrine the pioneering rocker at his favourite places around the world.
Born Ian Kilmister, Lifelong Motorhead fan Andy Edwards sculpted the statue that features Lemmy holding a bass guitar.
Those in attendance included some Lemmy Lookalikes and others attired in the familiar blue jeans and black leather jacket.
Lemmy founded Motorhead in 1975 and was its only continuous member until his death in 2015 at the age of 70 as a result of cancer. The band went on to help pioneer heavy metal music.
More ashes have been placed inside a calvary shaped urn which has been placed at the gentleman’s club in London where Kilmister was a regular – Stringfellows.
