Broadway Awards season has begun and on May 5 the winners of the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards were announced.
The winners will receive their awards in a private ceremony on May 15.
2025 Drama Critics’ Circle Awards:
Best Play: “Purpose”
Best Musical: “Maybe Happy Ending”
Best individual Performance: Andrew Scott in “Vanya”
Best Ensemble Performance: the cast of “Liberation”
Special Citations:
Cole Escola for “Oh, Mary!”
“Cats: The Jellicle Ball”
David Greenspan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for “Purpose”
The New York Drama Critics Circle is comprised of 23 New York drama critics, representing daily newspapers, magazines, wire services, and websites.
The NY Drama Critics Circle have been awarding performances on Broadway since 1936.
