Adam Lambert grew up in musical theater, has joined the surviving members of Queen for several tours, and last year he made his Broadway debut as the emcee in the revival of the musical “Cabaret”.

This summer he will join award winning performer, the green witch Elphaba herself Cynthia Erivo in a production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Hollywood Bowl.

Lambert will play the role of Judas with Erivo taking on the title role.  The remainder of the cast will be announced at a later date for the performances scheduled August 1-3.

Since the film debut in 1970 and Broadway debut in 1971, “Jesus Christ Superstar” has seen a number of reproductions and revivals.

The musical is a part of the Hollywood Bowl’s summer performance series that also includes maestro Gustavo Dudamel, Hugh Jackman, Grace Jones, Juanes, Angelique Kidju, Yo-Yo Ma, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, the Roots, Diana Ross, and Yuja Wang.
