Xfinity Series driver Connor Zilisch, who drives the number 88 car for JR Motorsports, was involved in the last lap wreck at Talladega Superspeedway last Saturday where he made a hard head on hit against the wall.

As a result of that wreck, Zilisch has sustained a lower back injury and will not be in the 88 car this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

JR Motorsports issued a statement saying, “Kyle Larson will sub for Connor Zilisch behind the wheel of the number 88 Chevrolet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway as Zilisch continues to recover from a lower back injury sustained last weekend at Talladega.”

Jesse Love gave Zilisch a push on the final lap of the race that sent Zilisch spinning that ended with a head on hit into the wall that destroyed the front end of the car.

Zilisch exited the car on his own; was checked and released from the infield care center, he even assured fans that he was OK and “very grateful to driver safe JR Motorsports race cars.”

An Xfinity Series regular, Zilisch will need a waiver from NASCAR in order to be eligible for the playoffs.
