For the second week in a row, NASCAR has disqualified drivers after infractions in post race inspection.
Ryan Preece and Joey Logano were both charged with spoiler infractions and were relegated to the back of the field after top five finishes.
In Preece’s number 60 car, officials found some unapproved shims in the spoiler area.
As for Logano’s number 22 car, NASCAR officials charged the Team Penske car with violation of Section 14.5.8.E – spoiler braces used for superspeedway events and Section 14.1.P – General Vehicle Assembly which states “all fasteners must be securely fastened at all times during an event.
In a statement issues by Team Penske, they noted that one of the 18 bolts used the connect the spoiler to the deck lid was found to be loose. Team Penske noted that the incident was not intentional and happened at some time during the race.
Preece is listed as finishing in 38th place with Logano in 39th of the 39 car field and earning just one point each. For Logano, it is a loss of 40 points for the day.
After Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher crashing out of the race, RFK finished the day in 34th, 36th, and 38th place.
For Team Penske it was a feast or famine day with Austin Cindric winning the race while Logano and Rayn Blaney finished 37th and 39th.
Kyle Larson’s number five car, Josh Berry’s number 21 car, Ty Dillon’s number 10 car, and Bubba Wallace’s number 23 car will all be taken to the NASCAR R&D Center for further inspection. Each race NASCAR randomly selects cars that will undergo a complete inspection at their R&D Center.
