While there is some time yet before the actual players for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic are named; the coaching staff has been named. 

Mark DeRosa returns as the manager for the team.  DeRosa led Team USA to the silver medal behind Japan in the 2023 edition of the WBC.

Baseball operations executive Michael Hill has been named the general manager for Team USA.

USA Baseball executive director and CEO Paul Seiler spoke on the staff saying, “we are extremely excited to begin the 2026 World Baseball Classic process by welcoming Michael and Mark to our staff.  For nearly 30 years, Michael has taken on many key roles throughout Major League Baseball and has made an incredible impact on our game. Mark garnered respect from some of baseball’s biggest stars in ‘23 and is a great fit to return to the U.S. dugout in ‘26. We are ready and eager to begin building a championship roster to represent the United States in the World Baseball Classic.”

DeRosa who is a 16 year veteran of the MLB and played in the 2013 WBC, said, “getting the chance to share the clubhouse and dugout with USA’s greatest staff and players was one of the highlights of my life.  I’m extremely grateful and fired up to get another opportunity to put ‘USA’ across my chest come March.”

Michael Hill added, “having the opportunity to lead Team USA into the World Baseball Classic is an honor and a privilege for me.  I look forward to working with Mark DeRosa and our coaching staff in building a team whose goal is to win a championship.”

The 2023 National League Manager of the Year Skip Schumaker will serve as the Team USA bench coach.

Five time World Series champion pitcher Andy Pettite is the pitching coach.

Seven time All Star Matt Hilliday will serve as the Team USA Hitting coach.

Dodger Dino Ebel will reprise his role as the third base coach for Team USA with Tigers bench coach George Lombard as the first base coach.

Fredi Gonzalez, Brian McCann, and Michael Young are the assistant manager with David Ross as the bullpen coach.

Team USA is in pool B with Brazil, Great Britain, Italy and Mexico in Houston beginning March 6.  Only the top two teams from each pool will move on to the next round.
