While the medieval torture device that carries their name has been around for 500 years, the band Iron Maiden have been making music and thrilling audiences for 50 years!
In celebration of the milestone, the rockers have created a visual history of their musical journey. “Iron Maiden: Infinite Dreams – The Official Visual History” is currently available for pre-order and is set for an October 7 release. The book will be available around the world, so no need to worry about missing out on a piece of rock and roll history!
Amazon has listed the book at $58,50US.
With an input from band members and management, the book follows the evolution of the metal heads that started it all.
Over 350 pages in length, “Infinite Dreams” includes never-before-seen photographs, the history of mascot Eddie, documents their stage productions, stories, insights, and Ed Force One. In chronological order, the book begins with the origins of the band in 1975 and traces the history of the groundbreaking band to the present and features a forward by band founder Steve Harris with an afterword Bruce Dickinson.
Harris spoke on the book saying, “I’ve been pleasantly surprised at some of the stuff that I’ve managed to unearth for this book. I knew I had kept a lot of things from the early days but they have lasted really well and the photography has brought them back to life. I hope the fans are going to love looking at all the stuff presented like this! It’s the right time to bring it all together for part of our 50th celebrations.”
Creative Director at Thames & Hudson Tristan de Lancey commented on the book saying, “Iron Maiden is an institution. Hailed as pioneers of British heavy metal in the 1980s, the band has come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence and ferocious dedication to their fans that has won them a huge following around the world and across generations. With astonishing archival access and more meticulous, hands-on participation from the band than I ever thought possible, we have been gifted the tools to create something beautiful, comprehensive and unique which, I have no doubt, raises the bar for illustrated books in this music genre. Every page will surprise and delight its audience – just don’t expect metal fans to be the only ones who buy it…!”
