The stars of Hollywood are making a big splash on the stage on Broadway and were driving the box office last week.

“Othello” starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal and “Good Night, and Good Luck” starring George Clooney not only made it in the top five of the Million Dollar Club; they did so with a box office draw of over $2 million!

As winter begins to give way to spring, the temperatures aren’t the only thing going up; last week Broadway saw a 32 percent increase at the box office with 31 shows now open.

With the top four shows bringing in over $2 million, 17 of the 31 shows currently running made it into the Million Dollar Club last week.

With an overall audience attendance of 95 percent, 25 of the 31 shows running made it into the 90 percent club with eleven of them reaching at least 100 percent capacity.  The Tony Award winning musical “The Outsiders” hit an audience capacity of over 102 percent.
