On a very busy Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Craftsman Truck Series kicks off a triple header weekend of racing with the Ecosave 200.

After two weeks off the Truck Series brings 32 teams to Las Vegas. 

The drivers have been divided in half and each group will get a 25 minute practice sessions before making a qualifying run.

There are eleven drivers in the field who will be making their Las Vegas debuts in tonight’s race.

Corey Heim reports some possible electrical issues in his truck and is in the pits with the crew trying to diagnose the problem.  Heim returns to the track with less than 10 minutes remaining in his practice session and puts his truck at the top of the leaderboard.  His lap of 30.34 seconds is faster than the qualifying lap from last year’s race.

Matt Crafton is on pit road with an issue with his dashboard.

NASCAR has made a  rule change in the truck series in relation to the pan underneath the truck that affects the balance of the truck.\

There is a serious cross wind on the track causing some handling issues for the drivers.

Ben Rhodes tops the leaderboard in Group 2 and is just one tenth of a second off of the track record.

The first driver on the track to make a qualifying run is Stephen Mallozzi who posted a time of 32.79 seconds around the mile and a half track.

Nathan Byrd will not make a qualifying run with an oil line issue.

The drivers get one round of single truck qualifying.

There are seven drivers in the field who are not of legal gambling age.

With a time of 30.388 seconds Corey Day will sit on the pole.  This is the first career pole for the 19 year old driver.

The issue with Corey Heim’s truck was the brake sensor

Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano join Jamie Little in the broadcast booth for tonight’s race.

Stages one and two of the race are 30 laps each with stage three lasting 74 laps for a total of 134 laps around the mile and a half track.  The drivers can run around 60 laps on a single load of fuel.

It is a very windy night in the desert with sustained winds of around 20mph with gusts in the 30s.

Corey Day brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Tyler Ankrum alongside.  The drivers are side by side with Tyler Ankrum edging out briefly for the lead in turn one.

NASCAR has the race start under review.

Corey Heim has advanced nine positions in six laps.

Lap eleven, Tyler Ankrum has a quarter of a second lead on Corey Day; Ty Majeski, Jake Garcia, and Gio Ruggiero round out the top five/

Lap 18, Tyler Ankrum retakes the lead from Corey Day.

Lap 19, Ty Majeski passes Corey Day and Tyler Ankrum to take the lead.

Lap 20, the top five are Ty Majeski, Tyler Ankrum, Corey Day, Jake Garcia, and Corey Heim.

Lap 22, since taking the lead, Ty Majeski has pulled out to a lead of nearly a second.

Lap 24, leaders have encountered slower traffic.

Lap 25, the first caution flag of the race comes out for light rain in the area.

Stage one ends under caution with Ty Majeski winning stage one.

Corey Heim was caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the longest line.  This is his first ever speeding penalty.

NASCAR brings the field down pit road and displaying the red flag for rain. NASCAR tells the drivers to stay in their trucks.

During stage one, Luke Fenhaus passed 18 trucks.

With an extended delay, the drivers are out of the trucks and the trucks are covered.

At 9:35pm EDT/6:35pmPDT, NASCAR called the drivers to their trucks in preparation for restarting the race.

Matt Crafton was charged with making unapproved adjustments and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Stephen Mallozzi was caught speeding on pit road and will restart the race from the back of the longest line.

At 9:46pmEDT/6:46pmPDT NASCAR has called for the drivers to start the engines.

After a 55 minute red flag, Ben Rhodes brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 38.  Rhodes jumps out in front for the lead.

NASCAR is reviewing the restart.  The restart is good.

Dawson Sutton got loose but saved the truck and the track stays green.

Lap 42, Corey Heim is already up to 17th after restarting the race from the back of the field.

Lap 43, Tyler Ankrum has a narrow lead on Ben Rhodes; Chandler Smith, Stewart Friesen, and Corey Day round out the top five.

Lap 49, Tyler Ankrum leads the race; Corey Heim has entered the top 10 in eighth place.

Lap 51, the top five are Tyler Ankrum, Chandler Smith, Ben Rhodes, Stewart Friesen, and Jake Garcia.

Having to move through the field…twice…Corey Heim has passed 39 drivers so far in the race.

Lap 55, after winning stage one, Ty Majeski has fallen out of the top 10 in eleventh place.

With stage three lasting 74 laps, the drivers will have to make a pit stop during the stage.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Corey Heim winning the race off of pit road.

Luke Fenhaus is charged with too many crew members over the wall.

Rajah Caruth will have to start at the back of the field after being charged with a safety violation.

Dawson Cram was charged with improper fueling.

Stage three has been put on hold as the rain returns.  NASCAR is bringing the drivers down pit road.

NASCAR considers the race official at the end of stage two or halfway, whichever comes first.

NASCAR has red flagged the race for the second time due to rain with 6555 laps remaining in the race.

NASCAR has told the drivers that they can get out of the trucks but to stay close.

 At 11:33pmEDT/8:33pmPDT NASCAR has called the drivers back to their trucks.

At 11:41 the trucks are moving once again.

Corey Heim brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three with Stewart Friesen alongside on lap 71.  Stewart Friesen takes the lead after a push form Chandler Smith.

Drivers are getting four wide across the track.

NASCAR is reviewing the restart.  The restart is good.

With 62 laps to go, Corey Heim comes up on the out side to battle with Stewart Friesen for the lead.

Corey Heim got into the wall in a four wide battle but the track stayed green.

The race ahs been clean all night but now drivers are getting aggressive and running thee and four wide across the track.

There are 59 laps remaining in the race with Stewart Friesen in the lead; Corey Heim, Chandler Smith, Justin Haley, and Jake Garcia round out the top five.

There are 27 trucks on the lead lap.

The caution flag comes out on lap 83 when Kaden Honeycutt spins out.  Tyler Ankrum gets into the wall trying to avoid Honeycutt.

Drivers come down pit road for service wi th a lot of the crews making tire changes.  Corey Heim wins the race off of pit road.

Bayley Currey’s crew had a tire get out into the grass.

Justin Haley had a slow pit stop when the air gun broke.

Josh Reaume is stopped on pit road and needs a push to get going again.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart with Corey Heim alongside with 44 laps remaining in the race.    Corey Heim gets out in front after a push from Stewart Friesen.  Drivers are four wide across the track.

The caution flag comes out on lap 93 when Jack Wood gets into the wall and takes his truck to the garage.

And some precipitation has returned to the track.

Stephen Mallozzi is out of the race with a drive train issue and Jack Wood is out of the race after getting into the wall.

With 32 laps to go, Corey Heim takes the lead.

The top five are Corey Heim, Layne Riggs, Stewart Friesen, Ty Majeski, and Justin Haley.

Thirty to go and the battles are heating up with drivers beating and banging on each other.

With just 17 laps to go, the drivers are battling all through the field.

Corey Heim has pulled out to a half second lead on Tanner Gray; Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, and Stewart Friesen round out the top five.

Just 13 laps to go, Crey Heim has passed nearly 50 drivers during the race to finally get out in front for the lead.  Heim has a half second lead on Tanner Gray with Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, and Stewart Friesen rounding out the top five.

Ten to go!  Corey Heim has pulled out to a near one second lead on Tanner Gray.

Grant Enfinger comes up on the inside to pass Tanner Gray for second with nine laps remaining in the race.

Eight to go, Grant Enfinger is closing the gap on leader Corey Heim; Heim’s lead is now down to half a second.

Four laps to go and Corey Heim holds on to the lead with Grant Enfinger coming on hard.

Corey Heim takes the white flag.

Corey Heim’s first win this season was after a disqualification; this time he does it all on his own for his first Las Vegas win.
