In a short penalty report this week, the lug nut monster made an appearance at Atlanta last weekend when The Haas Factory Team 00 car driven by Sheldon Creed and the Big Machine Racing number 48 car driven by Nick Sanchez were both found to have a single lug nut improperly installed in post race inspection after the race in Atlanta on Saturday. As a result of the infractions, each team was fined $5,000.
A new change for this year is that the lug nut penalty fines are being assessed to the teams and not the crew chiefs like in year’s past.
