“Romeo and Juliet” held its last on Sunday and closed the run with its highest numbers of the entire run. And the production announced that they have recouped their entire $7 million investment to put on the show.
The Shakespearean production sold out every week but one and played to the youngest overall audience in Broadway history.
The play “All In: Comedy About Love” also finished out its run last week; but its success has producers talking about another run next summer.
There is just one new show in the production lineup – “Operation Nincemeat” – but presented only one performance last week.
Overall, Broadway brought in over $30 million last week; up over 14 percent despite the attendance being down slightly.
“Wicked” continued it winning ways as the only show that brought in over $2 million last week. “Hamilton”, “The Lion King”, “The Outsiders”, and “All In: Comedy About Love” rounded out the top five.
There were 18 of the 28 shows in the million dollar club last week.
